Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s Engagement Ring Is The Perfect Blend Of Vintage & Modern

Rosie Huntington Whiteley Engagement Ring

Hollywood A-listers unveil their eye-catching engagement rings in a myriad of ways. While some opt for more overt announcements — in the form of Instagram posts, public statements, and tons of snaps of the glitzy ring — others choose a more subtle route. Such was the case with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s engagement ring reveal — an understated, simple announcement that let her stunning dazzler from fiancé Jason Statham speak for itself.

During the 2016 Golden Globe Awards, Huntington-Whiteley walked the red carpet arm-in-arm with Statham. And while her glittering, gold-beaded gown by Atelier Versace, which featured elegant fringe detailing, certainly made for a very memorable fashion moment, it was the sparkling ring that was perched on the model’s finger that ultimately stole the show.

“Rosie’s elegant ring features an estimated 5-carat round diamond in a compass point platinum setting from the Edwardian era,” Kathryn Money, vice president of strategy and merchandising at Brilliant Earth, shares with The Zoe Report over email. “The gorgeous center diamond is accentuated by double claw prongs and delicate pavé diamonds, including surprise diamonds within the gallery.”

Money estimates the ring to cost approximately $350,000, “assuming a flawless center diamond, as has been previously reported.”

Huntington-Whiteley’s ring is a true vintage bauble, so it’s no surprise that it comes with a sustainable price tag. The round diamond, which Statham picked out from jeweler Neil Lane’s archival collection, dates back to the early 20th century (i.e., the Edwardian Era), a time that has been described as one of the most innovative and luxurious periods in jewelry history. One common design element among the sparklers from this period? Edwardian-era rings typically feature a large center diamond atop a band that’s accented with smaller diamonds — just like Huntington-Whiteley’s.

While a familiar feature of rings during this era, the added diamond detailing is also the perfect way to add something special to a classic look, Money says. “Many couples are embracing beautiful hidden touches that set a ring apart,” she adds, noting accented galleries and surprise diamond details, like the ones on Huntington-Whiteley’s ring, as two examples.

Huntington-Whiteley and Statham started dating in Apr. 2010, with Stathman officially asking for the model’s hand in marriage in 2016. Though they’ve been engaged for more than two years (and share a 1.5-year-old son, Jack Oscar Statham), it’s likely the couple won’t tie the knot anytime soon. And as it turns out, there’s a touching reason behind them wanting to wait.

“I think the time will come. We’ve been so focused on our work for so long, and Jack came along. We definitely talk about it. We’re looking forward to that time, ” she shared with Extra back in Oct. “It’s also not a huge priority for us; we’re so happy. I think it will be fun to do it when the baby’s grown up a bit and he can be involved in the wedding.”
