Molly Sims has a diverse heritage, with her father, Jim Sims, being English and Cherokee, and her mother, Dottie Sims, being German. She also has an older brother, Todd Sims.

Her father was required to continue working at a book company. Thus, the family later relocated to Mayfield, Kentucky.
